Reading at home with your children? Try some of these things to help them become better readers!
Who are the main characters?
How do they predict that the story will end?
What is the problem in the story? How is it solved?
Which character is your favorite? Why?
- Ask them questions as they read.

- When the child comes to a word in the story they don't know, help them find out what it means by using context clues and then confirming the meaning of the word.
- When the children read, make sure they are picking books at their level. If on one page, there are five words they don't know, it's too hard and they should try a different one.
- Read nightly with your children. Their vocabulary expands when they are exposed to words and books!
